Hardware Requirements:
Below is a list of hardware requirements you will need to successfully complete a course and to have the best possible web experience.

  • A processor with at least 90 MHz clock speed
  • At least 32 Mb RAM
  • A SVGA - compatible monitor
  • Minimum 800 X 600 resolution 16 bit color video card
  • Audio card (does your computer have sound?)
  • A 33.3 baud modem or better
  • Java and Javascript capability
  • Mac users should have OS 7.5 or higher
  • PC users should have Windows 95 or higher

How do I download Microsoft Internet Explorer?
  1. Go to http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.htm.
  2. Choose the specific version of Internet Explorer 5.0 or newer that is compatible with your computer.
  3. Follow instructions provided on the Explorer page to download and install a free copy of Internet Explorer.

How do I download Macromedia Flash Player?

  1. Click here to test if your computer already has the Shockwave Flash Player plug-in.
  2. If the animation does not show up in a new window on your screen, then proceed to step 3 (otherwise, you already have Shockwave Flash Player installed).
  3. Go to http://www.macromedia.com/software/flash/download/.
  4. Download and install the free Flash Player software.

How do I Download Adobe Acrobat Reader?

  1. Point your Web Browser to http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/main.html.
  2. Under the "Products" column find "Acrobat Reader".
  3. Click the link with the name of your operating system (i.e. Windows, Macintosh, etc.).
  4. After you have clicked on the link with the name of your operating system and the new page has loaded, select the latest version with the appropriate language of "Acrobat Reader" from the list and click on that link.
  5. The next web page that loads in your browser will present you with a list of features in the various Adobe Acrobat products. For this course, you only need the basic Acrobat Reader; therefore, click on "Get Adobe Reader free!" near the bottom of the page.
  6. Follow "Step 1", "Step 2", and "Step 3" as provided on the web page that loads in your web browser.
  7. "Step 3" provides the actual download of the "Acrobat Reader" installation file. Your web browser should prompt you to select a location in which to save this file. How do I change the screen resolution on Microsoft Windows 95/98/2000/NT/ME?

  1. Click on the Start button in the bottom left corner of the screen.
  2. Highlight the Settings item and click the Control Panel item.
  3. Double-click the Display icon.
  4. Click the Settings tab.
  5. Drag the slider in the Screen Area section to either 800 x 600 or 1024 x 768.
  6. Set the color palette to the highest possible setting at your resolution.
  7. Click the OK button.
  8. Follow the prompts given by Microsoft Windows.
  9. Close the Control Panel window.

How do I change the screen resolution on a Macintosh?

  1. Click the Apple icon in the top left corner of your screen.
  2. Drag your mouse to the Control Panels, then open Monitors & Sound.
  3. Click the monitor icon on the top of the screen.
  4. You can now change the color and resolution of your screen by choosing either 832 x 624 or 1024 x 768.
